Founded by the New England Company in 1901, St. George's School was, at first, an industrial school for boys. The education of Indian girls was transferred to St. George's from All Hallows School, Yale in 1916. Around 1969 the school became St. George's Student Residence and in 1979 it closed. St. George's Chapel was later attached to the Lytton Indian Mission.
